Moving to St.-Cloud

As one of the larger communities in Minnesota, the community of St. Cloud welcomes you to your new home in the midst of everyday conveniences. Just because our community is one of the larger ones in the state does not mean we are our residents are unfriendly. We are certain that you will make new friends and enjoy your new home in St. Cloud regardless of your family's lifestyle.

Recycling has been a priority in the St. Cloud community for nearly two decades. The town began a refuse collecting system that included recyclables in 1991 and it has been in force ever since. Residents are charged based on the volume of trash that they place to the curb for collection. As a result of this billing system, the amount of trash that has gone to the local landfills has been reduced by nearly 50 percent. Residents must put their trash in specially marked bags that you can purchase at various facilities throughout town, including Cenex, City Hall, the Catholic Credit Union, Schmidty's Superette and others. Fore more information about the trash collection and recycling services, call (320) 650-2900.

Volunteering to help your community is beneficial to both you and the community. You can make the place you live a better place and make yourself feel better at the same time. The St. Cloud community has a number of opportunities for volunteers to give back. The RSVP program is one of the main volunteer groups in St. Cloud and more than 80 percent of those who participate in the group say they have improved their quality of life as a result of their volunteer efforts. The program works with more than 150 human service agencies so there is always something you can do. You also have insurance coverage during your volunteering times. For more information about how you can get involved, call the RSVP Department at the Whitney Center at (320) 255-7295 or stop in their offices at 1529 Northway Drive.

St. Cloud is dedicated to keeping its residents safe and secure through crime prevention. One way you can get involved in crime prevention is by joining a Neighborhood Crime Watch in your area. These programs are effective ways of reducing crime in neighborhoods by teaching citizens about various risks, training them to recognize suspicious activities, teaching methods for securing your home from burglary and much more. If you want to join a Neighborhood Crime Watch or start one for your area, call John Justin at (320) 650-3682 for more information.
